How did that end up there?

During spring break we stopped at the picnic area at Washington on the Brazos State Park. While watching my kids and enjoying the spring day, I happened to look up and see this:

I asked the kids how it got there, Sadie came up with a story about elves. When T.S. heard "elf," he announced that an elephant put it there.

So, what's the story? How did that shoe get in the tree?

Again, possible blog giveaway--if more than four people comment, I'll pick a winner and send him/her a fabulous prize.

Pace thinks super man flew up and got his shoe hung of the tree then had to leave fast to save someone so he left it there.

Let us know if we win the prize? lol

Tatiana (4th Grader) thinks a crow got it and took it for a nest.

Buck (4th Grader) thinks maybe a squirrel took it and placed it there to keep his nuts in.

I think the shoe is actually just part of the tree branch and it just looks like shoe. Just a trick from Mother Nature.

I hate to be one to give a not-so-good reason for trhe shoe in the tree, but this is what I have heard from a reputable source (policeman): it can be a signal that it's a place to get drugs--like a sales corner.

I much prefer to think that some happy kid tossed it there to celebrate a winning game, or as a trick on someone. Or that the crow took it. It would be like a crow to do something like that!

As for a title? How about The Crow, The Tree, and The Shoe? or How Not to Practice for the Marathon?
